Which Printers Use 301 Ink
Most inkjet printers manufactured in the past years used what’s called ‘301 ink’. 301 ink is a special type of ink that has infused coloring, the color is locked into the plastic of the cartridge making it super difficult to fade over time. It also means you can print with pretty high quality settings and not lose much detail.

Can Any Printer Use 301 Ink?
Any printer that is compatible with HP301 ink will be able to use it. You can check the specifications on the model of printer that you have to see if it uses HP301 or if it’s compatible with this type of ink. If the printer is not compatible with 301 most likely the cartridge won’t fit. Even if the cartridge fits in it won’t work. So, you should only use 301 ink in a compatible printer.
Can You Use a 61 Ink Cartridge Instead of a 301 in a HP Printer?
Ink cartridges are available for printers in different models and series. Each model has its own specific ink cartridge that is essential for the smooth functioning of the printer.
Each ink cartridge contains a chip that communicates with an HP printer and monitors ink usage. The chip tells the printer when the cartridge is low on ink or out of it. It also keeps track of your print history. An HP 301 ink cartridge won’t work in an HP 61 cartridge slot, and vice versa. If you put an HP 301 ink cartridge in an HP 61 slot, you’ll get an error message telling you that the cartridge is incompatible with the printer. This happens because the chip in each type of cartridge has different information encoded on it.
Can You Use 302 Ink Instead of 301 Ink?
The short answer to this question is “no.” While 302 and 301 ink cartridges look virtually identical, they are not interchangeable. 302 ink is not designed to be used in a printer that requires 301 ink. However, the longer-term solution to your dilemma would be to buy a printer that uses 302 ink, if you can find one. These types of printers are typically manufactured by small companies and sold at their offices, but you might get lucky and find one on Amazon or some other website.
